Merry CHRISTmas!
This week Christians around the world will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. What a blessing is is to spend December 25th each year thanking the Father for sending His Son to be the Savior of the world (1 John 4:14). Christmas is all about Jesus!
Jesus is the Savior. The angels announced to the shepherds in the fields outside Bethlehem, “For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11) The name Jesus means “Jehovah is salvation.” His primary mission on earth was “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).
Jesus is the Christ. The word “Christ” or “Messiah” means “Anointed One.” The Holy Spirit anointed Jesus at His baptism (Luke 3:21-22; Acts 10:38). Jesus spoke of God’s anointing in Luke 4:18. Jesus fulfilled every Old Testament prophecy, and He is the Jewish Christ/Messiah!
Jesus is Lord. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Philippians 2:11; Revelation 19:16). He rules and reigns in heaven now at the Father’s right hand. (Hebrews 10:12-13). He will rule as Lord of all during His earthly Millennial Reign, and He will then be in control in heaven with the Father and the Spirit for all eternity (Revelation 21, 22).
This week as you gather with family and friends, be sure to read the Christmas Story in Luke 2. Focus on the true meaning of the season: Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas!
